Attorney Stanley T. Banks (Tracy--Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, Adam's Rib) finds himself unprepared when his daughter, Kay (Taylor--Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), announces her engagement to Buckley Dunstan (Don Taylor--Stalag 17), while wife Ellie (Joan Bennett) and son Tommy (Russ Tamblyn--West Side Story, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers) burst with enthusiasm for Kay's wedding. But for Stanley, gaining a "son" offers no consolation for the loss of his baby girl, who's all grown up now with a life of her own.
